Community Supported Fishery (CSF)

Community supported fisheries are based on the successful CSA model. In the case of a CSF program, participants pay for their subscription at the beginning of a determined season and then receive a share of the catch on a regular basis. Consumers receive fresh, locally caught seafood while the fisherman receives a better price for his or her catch compared to when selling products at wholesale. CSFs often include species such as cod, haddock, sole, pollock, clams, lobsters, shrimp and scallops, but this varies depending on the region. See also Community Supported Enterprise (CSE).
