Community Supported Kitchen (CSK)
Similar to the CSA model, community supported kitchens allow consumers to buy items directly from food producers. Consumers typically pay to become CSK members and are then entitled to a certain amount of food each week from the kitchen they join. Most CSKs offer a phone or internet ordering system that allows individual shareholders to choose from a predetermined list of prepared food items (e.g. soups, stocks, casseroles, desserts, beverages, etc.) and then pick up their custom order weekly at the kitchen. There are a variety of CSK models around the United States, so the ordering and payment specifics may vary. See also Community Supported Enterprise (CSE).
