Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions

Although there are many naturally occurring greenhouse gases that help insulate the planet, those that enter the atmosphere due to human activities are of the greatest concern with regard to climate change. These include carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O) and fluorocarbons. An unnaturally high concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere causes a gradual increase of the Earth’s average temperature. As a result, reduction of GHG emissions is necessary in order to prevent climate change.
