FarmPlate respects the privacy of its users. This Privacy Policy describes the personal information we collect through our Site, and how we collect and use it.  The terms “we”, “us” or “our” refer to FarmPlate, a Delaware company administered by Verdesca LLC d/b/a FarmPlate (“FarmPlate”).

INFORMATION WE COLLECT AND HOW WE USE IT

Account Information


Registering with FarmPlate allows users to take full advantage of the resources made available by the Site. We store the personal information you submit upon registration (including your name, email address, password and zip code) and use it to identify your account on the Site by name and to target our resources and services to your geographic location. With your permission, we use your email to send you service announcements and share resources. You may update your account information and opt-out of receiving marketing communications from us at any time by changing your preferences here.  As outlined in our Terms of Service, by creating an account you agree to receive certain Site service communications.  

 

For businesses, any information you may choose to provide in order to share details about your business or products via the Site (including, as an example, your menu, business relationships or address) creates a more direct connection between you and other users.  A user or business that is a Member, as outlined in our Terms of Service, may also be contacted by Site users via email at the address provided by the Member.  Those email communications will be sent by the Site and the Member’s email address will not be displayed to the user. 

 

You control what personal information is shared with the public and other registered FarmPlate users by choosing what to post and, if you are a business, what appears on your business profile. FarmPlate will not share any information from individual user accounts.

 

We may use the information you provide on our Site for routine administrative purposes such as investigating abuses of the Site, responding to user inquiries, and enforcing and applying our Terms of Service. 

 

How We Share Your Information 

The security of your personal information is important to us. FarmPlate will not share any part of your personal information with  third parties for their marketing purposes without your explicit consent. Your information may be combined with information collected by FarmPlate from other companies and used to improve and personalize the services, content and advertising provided by our Site.

 

We reserve the right to share your information for the purposes of investigating abuse of the Site or enforcing and applying our Terms and Conditions. We may disclose information about you to third parties if we have a good faith belief that such disclosure is reasonably necessary to (a) take action regarding suspected illegal activities; (b) enforce or apply our Terms of Service; (c) comply with legal process and law enforcement instructions and orders, such as a search warrant, subpoena, statute, judicial proceeding, or other legal process served on us; or (d) to protect our rights, reputation, and property or that of our users, affiliates or the public. 

 

Sharing Information on Business Profiles  

Businesses that create profiles with FarmPlate share certain information about their business with FarmPlate and with the public. 

 

FarmPlate reserves the right to remove from the Site any business profile containing illegal or inappropriate Content.

 

Service and Administrative Messages

FarmPlate will periodically use your email address to send you certain messages necessary for the continued functionality and use of the Site.  These include an initial welcome message you will receive upon registration, necessary service announcements and administrative messages. You may not opt-out of these communications, which are not promotional in nature.

 

Location Data

The Site can provide helpful information based on where you are geographically located. If you tell us where you are located by allowing the listing of your zip code in your profile, we can store and use that information to provide you with location-based information and advertising. If you choose not to provide your geographic information, FarmPlate will attempt to locate you based on your IP address. 

 

Your Activity (Activity and Log Data)

We automatically store information related to your use of the Site, such as the pages you view on the Site, your browser type, IP address, requested URL, browser language, referring URL, and the date and time of your visit. We use this type of information to administer the Site and to provide the highest possible level of service to you. We also use this information in aggregate form to perform statistical analyses of user behavior and characteristics in order to measure interest in and use of the various areas of the Site. All data collected by the Site will be stored in the United States. In submitting your data and using our Site, you are consenting to your data being used in this manner. 

 

Third Party Service Providers

We may use third party service providers to provide technical and customer support, perform tracking and reporting functions, conduct quality assurance testing, perform payment processing and provide other services in connection with the Site.  We may share information about you with them so that they can perform the services they are required to perform, but they are not permitted to use your personal information other than to provide the services requested by you.

 

Public Content 

You can contribute to the Site in a number of different ways, which could include rating and reviewing businesses, uploading business information and photos, submitting corrections and filling out your public profile among other things. At our own discretion, we may limit the amount and type of this kind of information, or User Content, contributed by you. We may store Your Content, share it with other users, or use it for promotional purposes as outlined in the Terms of Service. Please note that if you include personally identifiable information in Your Content, it can be used and viewed by anyone who visits the Site. We are not legally responsible for the information you choose to include in Your Content.

 

 

SHARING YOUR INFORMATION ON FARMPLATE

Inviting Friends & Sharing

You can invite friends to join the Site by providing their contact information here [LINK to invite a friend]. We will use your friends’ contact information to invite them to visit the Site and register. If you supply any data to us about your friends, you indicate that such information is provided to us with their consent and knowledge of our proposed use of their data. 

 

Cookies

We send cookies to your computer in order to uniquely identify your browser and improve the quality of our service.  “Cookies” refer to small pieces of information that a website sends to your computer’s hard drive while you are viewing the Site.  We may use both session cookies (which expire once you close your browser) and persistent cookies (which stay on your computer until you delete them.  Persistent cookies can be removed by following your browser help file directions.  If you choose to disable cookies, some areas of the Site may not work properly or at all.  We recommend you accept FarmPlate’s cookies in order to optimize your use of the Site.

 

We enable some of our third party partners to use cookies in conjunction with your use of the Site.  We have no access to or control over the use of these cookies.  These cookies collect information about your use of the Site, such as where you came from, which pages you visited within the site, and possibly other sites you visit if those sites cooperate with the same third party, but do not collect your name, email address or other personally identifiable information that by itself would allow the third party to identify or contact you.  

 

Online Job Applications Submitted to FarmPlate

Any information you provide to FarmPlate as part of a job application will be used solely to evaluate you as a candidate for employment. This information will not be shared outside of our company. We may retain your personal information for a period of time, but only for the purpose of considering your application for current or future available positions.

 

Editing and Deleting Account Information

You can change your FarmPlate account at any time by accessing your account preferences, [LINK to account profile edit page] here. Editing options are available for all your account information and features, with the exception of your account name. 

 

You can delete your FarmPlate account by emailing privacy@farmplate.com. FarmPlate will respond to your request within 10 to 20 business days. Please note that your identification, billing and contact information may remain in FarmPlate’s records for some period after the deletion of your account. 

 

Choice/Opt-out

FarmPlate may send you certain communications relating to marketing, updates, new resources or services related to your FarmPlate account. You can opt-out of receiving these marketing communications by changing your account preferences here.

 

Credit Card Information

If you purchase Premium Services on FarmPlate online, we collect billing and credit card information.  This information will only be shared with third parties who perform tasks (such as fulfilling orders and processing credit card payments) required to complete the purchase transaction.  When you enter sensitive information (such as a credit card number) on our registration or order forms, we encrypt that information using 256-bit secure socket layer technology (SSL) and pass it to a third party payment provider who uses this information to collect payment and stores this information to bill you on renewal.  FarmPlate does not keep your credit card number on our servers, although we do maintain the last four-digits of your credit card in encrypted format.  

  

How We Protect Your Personal Information

To ensure your privacy and security, your FarmPlate account information is protected by a password set by you, the user. In the event that a user forgets their password, FarmPlate will generate an automatic substitute and subsequently allow the user to create their own new password. Users are advised to be aware of security and protect against unauthorized access to your password and your computer by signing off once you have finished using a shared computer. No method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage method is 100% secure. Therefore, while FarmPlate strives to use all reasonable and commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. GENERAL POLICIES

Our Policy Toward Children

We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 18. If you are under the age of 18, please do not provide your name, address, contact details or any other information that identifies you as an individual. If you are a Parent or Guardian of someone under the age of 18 who has provided us with information without your knowledge and consent, you may request that we remove this information by contacting privacy@farmplate.com.

 

CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

FarmPlate reserves the right to modify this privacy policy at any time. The most current version of the policy will always be located online, at http://beta.farmplate.com/privacy-policy, and is effective as of date of posting.
